A Lounge, A Club, A Restro: Kolkata's Newest Middle-Eastern Joint Has Something For Everyone

Remember the last time you craved for some good Middle Eastern food and got served a dollop of bleh hummus and some dry pita bread? And hoping to get a drag of authentic Middle Eastern shisha is somewhat like creating your fantasy football line up. But this new place Baccara’s just opened up and put a grin on our face.

We may have been dreaming of going to Morroco for some time now, but Baccara has done the trick and got Morocco to Kolkata. Marrakesh, their Arabian shisha and dining den, floored us completely with its filigree framed cabanas, big base Egyptian hookahs {aka handcrafted Khalil Mamoon hookahs from Egypt}, authentic Middle Eastern fare and the plush cabanas.

Owners Akash and Rajeev have lined up something for everyone — the partygoer, the fam, the kid and the couple. The fine dining restro, Picasso, on the ground floor is perfect for the fam and kids to indulge in yumilicious continental and Middle Eastern food and drinks. Don’t forget to try the zatar naan that’s served with saffron-infused hummus and their stuffed mushrooms. The club on the first floor, Jesters, offers the perfect lounge and bar setting for partygoers. Couples can head to Altitude, the open-air rooftop place, for some unintrusive time.

Their shisha choices are in plenty to spoil you — from Rajwada pan to blueberry springwater and Frutella. Team this up with delectable Middle Eastern dishes like jujeh kebab or the mezze platter, and you will definitely be transported to Marrakesh.

While most of these zones will be open till midnight, Altitude and Jesters will open only after 4pm. And kids are allowed only in the restro Picasso.
