Indira Gandhi And Nargis Have Worn Their Saris
Ananda is one of the first boutiques in Kolkata — started in 1974 to revive Bengal handloom saris with an emphasis on quality printed silks and Bengal tangail silks.
They are known to engage some of the best master weavers in Phulia, the seat of the Bengali sari and in Dhaniakhali to recreate old styles in new fabrics. New threads were used in warp and weft — and that’s how the trademark Ananda tangail emerged. Their discerning customers include Indira Gandhi, yesteryear actress Nargis, Hema Malini, Rakhee, and Aparna Sen.
