Since early 2015, Chef Malika Khanna’s ‘Bakelove‘ has been dishing out the most delicious American-style cakes, pastries, and all manner of gooey goodies. Having recently relocated from Koregaon Park {as of April 2017}, Bakelove now enjoys a cosy cafe space at Crossword Bookstore in Aundh.

Chef Malika completed her training at the Culinary Institute of America, and worked at notable Momofuku Milk Bar and Junoon in New York City before moving back to Pune. Bakelove is her baby, and she takes great pride in crafting everything from scratch, with the most premium ingredients. From tiered cakes to lusciously frosted cupcakes, chewy chocolate-chip cookies to lemon meringue bars, gem-studded blondies, and tea-cakes; Bakelove’s new menu also includes a selection of grilled paninis, and New-York style bagels. Don’t miss out on her special Matcha cake, decadent marshmallow-studded s’mores bar, and freshly baked breads {that you can take home}.

We love that Malika’s style of cakes aren’t the conventional kind you’d usually see on most bakery menus here in Pune. German chocolate cake {which tastes like a Bounty bar}, Boston cream pie, carrot cake, Snicker bar muddle, pumpkin spice cake, and banana-Nutella cake are just *some* of the cake options you have to indulge in – either by the slice, or by pre-ordering an entire cake for yourself {because, why not}.

Treat yourself to the caramel brownie {INR 80}, brown sugar and date cake {INR 100 for the entire loaf}, German chocolate cake {INR 180 per slice}, carrot cake {INR 130 per slice} and Oreo-Gem Blondies {INR 100} and you’ll be in dessert heaven! Settle in with a good book, or enjoy the company of your date over a cup of coffee at their cute cafe space; located inside Crossword bookstore {previously Moshe’s}. Bakelove also takes orders for novelty cakes {for all occasions, from birthday to bachelorette party}, but you need to place your order at least a day or two in advance.
