Your favourite Asian gastrobar, The Fatty Bao is back after a hiatus in an all-new avatar with a unique pop-up at Monkey Bar and it’s all kinds of awesome.
They are kicking off this new experience with 'Curry Up Fatty', which is a special menu comprising bowls of delicious, hearty curries from the streets of Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Philippines. However, you better hurry if you want in on this culinary journey because this is only available (for dine-in & delivery) till the 28th of March. So, step out and get slurping on the hearty, unctuous curries packed with delightful textures and exciting new Asian flavours.
Pick from the Thai Green Curry with Lamb Meat Balls with spiced meatballs slow-cooked with green curry paste and coconut milk, or Gulai Ayam - the Indonesian aromatic, rich and spicy chicken curry with baby onions. Pork lovers would thoroughly enjoy digging into the Pork Humba - braised pork belly with black bean, pineapple, red chili and soy, while those who prefer chicken can always opt for Ca Ri Ga - a thick Vietnamese chicken curry with potatoes, carrots and green peas. What’s more, all curries are served with a choice of steamed rice, jasmine rice and fried garlic rice along with a selection of accompaniments including green sambal, roasted minced spicy peanuts, cucumber, fried onions and crackers.
Too tied up this month? Fret not! While the curry festival may end (like all good things do), Fatty Bao isn't going anywhere. Their much loved and immensely missed Asian fare will also now be available at Monkey Bar. Whether it's the pillowy, soft baos, or dainty dim sums, or Asian salads, or hearty ramens - it's all going to be back on the menu. I tried the melt-in-mouth Chicken Celery Dimsums for starters. Followed by the Grilled Sambal Chicken Bao, which was hands down the best I have had so far. Next up was the Crumb Fried Goat Cheese Small Plate (my absolute favourite), that pairs really well with their signature Manga Cocktail. They also have soupy noodles with a wide selection of toppings and broths, stir- fries with that Fatty flair and dishes inspired by the flavours of cuisines across South East Asia.
