What Makes It Awesome

Triangular Park is one stretch that is chock full of clothing and apparel stores. But Haate Naate stands out right from the entrance done up in powder blue and white folk motifs.

It's a tiny store with a handpicked collection of ethnic apparel (sarees, kurtas, dupattas), jewellery (including lots of dokra pieces), and home decor items like upholstery fabrics, paintings, handcrafted artifacts and even some furniture.  What we particularly loved was the range of embroidered fabrics you can use for blouses or tops with very Bengal motifs (owls, fish and even a woman who looks a lot like Suchitra Sen). The sarees range from the ubiquitous gaamcha designs to resplendent silks with interesting weaves including monuments, fish, peacocks and striking Kolkata landscape prints.

You can message them on Facebook as well if you live outside the city. They ship worldwide.
