NOtag is a new brand of unisex shirts that are affordable, comfy and fun. You can stalk their designs on Instagram or find them at the cubbyhole they’ve created at our favourite bar in Assagao, Escobar. Their shirts are all priced at INR 1,499.

What Makes It Awesome

No, there was no turning point. No realisation of epic proportions. No life-changing event even. It’s just that Rea had worked in the fashion industry and Anant needed some cool, everyday shirts. Just designing a few for Anant set the ball (no, the sewing machine) rolling. They bought some cotton fabrics they liked and started getting them shirts stitched in 3 sizes. This is the un-exciting story behind a rather exciting brand. And why NoTags? ‘Yes, it’s because we don’t believe in tags and we don’t want a particular type of person to wear our shirts. We’re gender neutral,’ says Rea.

Just an adorable by-product of two Goa folks having fun, this one’s not out there to be trendy or to break the rules. It loves the neighbourhood uncle who walks the dog as much as the struggling poet and the manic startup guy as much as the girl who loves pina coladas on the beach. It’s this ‘we’re for everyone’ attitude that we love. In keeping with this no-fuss approach, they also release new prints every week but won’t have more than 15 designs to pick from at any point.

Now yes, they love their colours and prints, but for every bright fuschia, there’s a muted beige in the designs. So, whether you’re funk central or someone who’s so far stuck to safe, solid zone, there’s something for you. We dig the florals personally but know that the subtler patterns have a lot of takers too.

If you’re a dog parent, they give you a matching scarf for the doggo with the shirt you buy. Cute, right? They also use wooden buttons instead of plastic and have the old school mithai dabbas as the packing boxes for the shirts.

What Could Be Better

We wish they expanded and did more than just shirts at some point.

Pro-Tip

If you like a particular design but want it customised (longer sleeves, smaller collar and the likes), they’re happy to do it for you in a couple of days. You can also leave off a sample of your best fitting shirt and they can get one stitched in a pattern you like.
