Shortcut

Despite being called Mirabai China Highway, this local joint serves some of the best Goan thalis and fish preparations in Saligao. One of the places frequented by locals, this one remains hidden in a small by-lane of the quaint Saligao village. It's in fact just a local home converted in to a restaurant, so don't go expecting fancy décor but plain and simple Goan food, done to perfection.

What Makes It Awesome?

The standard Goan Fish Thali that comes with some tisryo, a fried fish as well as fish curry, a vegetable, kismoor (a dried fish preparation), rice and Goa’s version of solkadi in the form of kokum water is a winner. Locally popular fish such as chonak or modso are our favourites. Then, of course there are other staples like kingfish, prawns and pomfret in rechaedo masala.

For the vegetarians, they even have a veg thali option that serves all of the above with dal.

Not into local food? They do serve Chinese and have kebabs and other tandoori items in the evenings that are worth a shot. And, they serve alcohol at very reasonable rates.

P.S. Visit the Gothic style Saligao church if you're headed that side.

Pro-Tip

The restaurant's open on all days for lunch from 12pm-3pm and dinner from pm to 11pm. We suggest getting here early for it can get crowded at lunch time but if you're in for a few minutes of wait, stick it out. It's going to be worth your while.
