If you've visited Goa recently, you've probably noticed that Assagao has become one of the trendiest spots around. It's a paradise for food lovers, with new eateries popping up all the time. One of the latest to join the scene is Bawri Goa. Located just past Izumi if you're coming from the Siolim side, Bawri stands tall, resembling a modern-day fort with its flat, vertical design. The grand staircase leading inside adds a touch of royalty to the experience as soon as you step in.

Interiors & Ambience

As you step into the restaurant and make your way through the space, your eyes are immediately drawn to the large, 3D macrame dreamcatchers, softly glowing with warm yellow lights. They dangle overhead, adding a whimsical touch to the earthy atmosphere. Right in the heart of the property, there's a large pond teeming with koi, goldfish, and even baby sharks. We had a reservation at the restaurant and noticed several couples already seated around the pond area. After much waiting, they gave us the low-seated spot right by the water and it ended up being the highlight of our visit.

The absence of music inside creates an intimate setting, perfect for heart-to-heart conversations. However, the tables are placed a bit too close for comfort, making it easy to catch snippets of nearby conversations, whether you want to or not.

What Makes It Awesome

The gourmet maestro pulling the strings behind this gastronomic spectacle in Assagao is none other than the dynamo from Netflix's The Final Table, Chef Amninder Sandhu!

Now, let’s talk about the mastermind behind the magic—Chef Sandhu, a culinary pro who works wonders with flames. We were practically drooling as we scanned the small plates menu.

My first choice was the Gunpowder Paneer, a paneer-stuffed Manipuri black rice dosa. It was decent and is a unique fusion which could be an acquired taste. Next up was the Kela Kakori Kebab with Salbatta Chutney. Mind you, that this is a fiery dish but is a delicacy you can try. Our meal for two ended up costing nearly INR 5,000.

On the drinks front, I enjoy spicy cocktails, so I tried the tequila infused with jalapeño. It was a balanced fusion. My friend, on the other hand, ordered the mutton kakori kebab and loved it. He said it was so well-cooked that even a non-vegetarian would be tempted to convert! As for the drink, he had Rosa, which seemed to be a refreshing cocktail.

We ordered for the main dish which was a lasooni palak along with bread. It was alright and could be better. However, the service here is quick and can be visited for an evening of conversations.
