Casa Playa is definitely one of the top players in Vagator offering great food, an amazing view, sundowners & cocktails. And it is pricey, but not as pricey as its neighbours, so it definitely gives you a lot more bang for your buck.
We started off with the Mexican Pani Puri, which surprised us with the burst of flavours it gave. From the jalapeno flavoured pani to the salsa style filling, it is definitely a great twist to this popular dish. The Sautéed Prawns that were miso glazed & on a bed of Japanese sticky rice accompanied by wasabi sauce was another dish that left us craving for more. For mains, the Ghee Roast Chicken Enchilada was a steal considering the rich filling and taste & so was the Pan Seared Fish that was a Red Snapper fillet and came on a bed of fenugreek quinoa risotto with a turmeric beurre blanc sauce. For desserts, they had gelatos and waffles among many other things, but the Beignets with a Hazelnut Chocolate sauce was our favourite. They have a great choice of dishes with salads, fusion food, seafood with good size portions and pricing.
We went for lunch on a Sunday when they have their sundowner sessions starting post five, but the music was really blasting away even during lunch. So we shall definitely be going back, but if you don't like loud music, maybe go on a day that isn't Sunday, as it seems they don’t play loud music on other days.
