What Makes It Awesome

Endiapan Store is the only store in Goa that offers Japanese cultural workshops and also sells goods from there. It's true this pandemic baby is one of its kind here in Goa. This store was founded on 23rd January, 2021, and run by Ayumi Mascarenhas who is originally from Japan.

The ‘en’ in the name means connection in Japanese, ‘dia’ comes from India and ‘pan’ comes from Japan. This shop is for a sure the connection between India in Japan. The Japanese culture is so much about zen and calm. No wonder, it found a home in South Goa of all places, just behind Palolem beach.

Just as you step in to this one, it feels like you have stepped into a store in Nippon. And just then you see a bunch of Otakus trying their hands on a Sushi workshop. Ayumi herself conducts these workshops for up to four people. She also offers some on chopsticks, origami (Japanese art of paper folding), Furoshiki (Japanese wrapping cloths), Matcha and Calligraphy.

Matcha is that Japanese green tea that is gaining popularity off late for its good caffeine! And in the workshop, you will learn to drink it because it is indeed a traditional art form. I bet you will be able to show off your artistic skills around once you do the calligraphy workshop by being able to write some of those complicated Kanji characters!

The store has everything from the famous stationary to clothes that are love at first sight. You will also find chopsticks with traditional art and earrings handmade in origami style. You can even live that kimono dream by buying one with matching footwear! The Japanese green tea is also for sale here.

The moment you hear of Japanese food, I am sure sushi comes to your mind and they do serve that. But they also serve Osaka originated foods like Takoyaki usually made with octopus and Okonomiyaki which are like pancakes.

Pro-Tip

When you walk in, make sure to smile and say ‘Konnichiwa’ and when you leave ‘Arigato(u) Gozaimas(u)’ with a little bow. Ayumi is sure going to be happy.
