Our go-to store for Indian prints and patterns, Fab India, has a beautiful, huge outlet in Mapusa. The store is housed in a sprawling compound, and is everything we love about Goa and Fab India coming together.
The brand is an all-time favourite when it comes to artsy Indian prints and reliable, comfy fabric. This outlet, just beyond Mapusa, is all of that and everything between clothes and collectibles.
First of all the yellow Portuguese house that hosts the store is a delight in itself. The store has been around for ten years now and has a commendable collection of clothes — men’s, women’s and kidswear, along with bags, wallets, juttis, sandals, linen, crockery, home decor, jewellery, personal care and a whole array of knick knacks.
The store is a labyrinth of one room after another of beautifully lit shelves that store some of the best cotton wear and ethnic prints that you will find. We also particularly like their personal care range which starts as low as INR 75 for their in-house branded soaps. The clothes section is very well stocked with the latest of collections, which start at about INR 650 for short kurtas and go up to about INR 12,000 for some of the saris.
Though we have to say that we were delighted with the home decor section and the range of choices it offers — everything from lamps, to teakwood shelves and mirrors, to the bed linen is aesthetically done, with sensibilities are so typically Fab India. Is it a surprise then that this store's our favourite this side of town?
