The Floating Feni Tour

What Makes It Awesome

One thing that's native to Goa is Feni, and a trip without experiencing it would be a Goa trip incomplete. The Floating Feni Tour is curated by Hansel Vaz, the founder of Cazulo Premium Feni. It is conducted at the family owned, over 100 years old distillery called Cazulo Fazenda in Cansaulim, South Goa. This one-of-a-kind tour can only be pre booked on the Urbanaut app and only then the secret pin location will be sent to you.

Once you arrive in the middle of nowhere, you will find that it is exactly right where all the magic happens, and you are greeted with a Feni cocktail. This delicious concoction is flowing with flavours from sweet to spicy and everything in between. It is also a taste of the mind-blowing couple of hours that are about to unfold.

Soon after, you are taken on a walk through the cashew plantation and get to learn about how Feni is made by hand, intuition and expertise. The tour includes a mix of Goan history and science, making it interactive and fun. Finally, you are to climb down some steps, following the sound of running water and you come upon a table set with food and drinks.

Right after you take a seat at the table with your feet dipped in the freshwater spring, you will be amazed with the fish flowing around your feet. Surrounded by tall trees and the cooling effect of the water, will make you forget that it is bang in the middle of the day and the sun is shining bright on top. You are guided step by step on sipping the three types of Feni, and pairing the right fruit, spice, nuts or snack with it from the platter laid out. You also get to savour some incredible Feni cocktails prepared with each of those.

At the end, you go back to where you started with the little detour through the Beca de Garrafa. It is a cellar full of a large glass bottle collection in which Feni was traditionally stored. You can also pick up some bottles available in three sizes to take back home with you, a fusion of more than 400 years of tradition.

Pro-Tip

Get there at least 15 minutes early so have enough time to park your vehicle and not miss any of the tour since it starts sharp on time. Carry minimum stuff and preferably sling it on your shoulder while you're at the table, otherwise you will have to leave your bag on side of the spring.

Make sure to carry cash or have UPI as cards are not accepted for purchasing their Feni.
