Goa is having its first-ever LGBTQ festival, and we’ve got all the information on this awesome, inclusive event!
Sun, Sand & Pride: Goa Is Having Its First-Ever LGBTQ Pride Festival!
Tell Us More!
A small step for the LGBTQ community, but a big leap for Goa. Having attended the one in Mumbai a few times, we are really looking forward to the dancing, the colourful costumes, flamboyance and the general festive nature of the event with all our friends within the LGBTQ community.
Not to mention that this is all about love, acceptance and not politics, religion or pet peeves, so avoid any of these in your costumes to avoid hurting anyone else’s feelings, say the organisers.
What Is In Store?
Kicking off on October 27 is the Pride Film Festival at 2pm, with some great LGBTQ movies being screened. This is to be held at The Red Lobster Trading Co near the Baga Bridge.
This will be followed by the Pre Pride Party 7pm onward, both at the Baga Riverside Restaurant. The next day is the main Pride Parade, which starts at 1.00pm, on October 28. It will kick off from the Old Secretariat in Panjim and they will dance, celebrate and walk their way all the way to the Miramar beach.
The celebrations end with a Post Pride Party again at the Riverside Baga. This will have a fashion show, lots of music and we hope a chance to dance the night away. If you are in Goa during this event, then hop on their Goa Sightseeing Tour on October 29 that will offer two trips, the first at 10am and the second at 7pm. So come on people, time to show some love and support!
It is the time to bring out those colourful wigs, maybe your mom and dad’s sunglasses maybe and join in the celebrations.
