What Is It?

If you are visiting Margao to do some shopping, or a heritage walk and seeing it’s beautiful old mansions and done with Goan food, then try out this cute restobar, Grelha, that serves some great international grub at affordable prices.

Grelha which simple means ‘grills’ in Portuguese has a lot more to offer than just grills. When you have one partner who is an ex-employee of the Leela Hotel Mumbai amongst others, means you get quality world cuisine, but at really great prices. So be it their delicious Grills, Mexican, Pastas or Desserts, you will leave the place satiated and happy. And it is located in the main market, so whether you get off a bus at the main stand there or are just visiting the INOX theatre next door for a movie, this restaurant is easy to get to. Dolled up with wooden window frames in colourful stained glasses, the restobar is fully air-conditioned and has comfortable seating. So it is definitely a great spot in the otherwise chaos that is the Margao market.

What Did We Like?

We started off with some Chicken Tacos, Onion Rings & Prawn Toastadas, that came with sour cream, bell peppers and of course those yummy prawns. Each dish was served with salsa, guacamole, sour cream and other sauces that are all made in house. Not to be missed are the Mexican Style Cheesy Fries that came with mutton mince and topped with Salsa.

Next on our list was the main course and we went for some Pasta & the finger licking good Prawns Gambas (the gravy of which we were polishing off with pao long after the prawns were gone). They even have other popular Tex Mex cuisine like Quesadillas, Fajitas as well as some yummy and refreshing salads for those hot days.

And when it was time for dessert, we thought with mango in season, there is no way we would not try out their Mango Mousse, and we were very glad that we did. Light, creamy and made with fresh mangoes, this dessert was perfect for a summer day lunch.

Anything Else?

They have a full fledged bar which serves all kinds of liquor and beers, and they are open all day. So even a late lunch here is a definite possibility. You can check out their page here for more details, and their full menu too. The service here is prompt and friendly, and it’s a good place to go to when you are in a rush to catch that bus or train.

We were pleasantly surprised at the end of the meal with our bill, which for the quality of food that we had was really well worth it. So the next time you are in the South and looking for a quality food place without having to break the bank, Grelha Restobar should be on your radar.

#LBBTip

Grelha Restobar is open throughout the year and only closed on Mondays every week, so a great place to grab a bite even in the rains.
