What happens when two brothers from a Rajasthani village move to Goa? They bring with them a little bit of their homeland and its cultural manifestations. Jai Mazisa Collection is just that — a bright store in Vagator that has an assortment of Rajasthani travel collectibles.

What Makes It Awesome

Jai Mazisa — the store is named after their local goddess, following a tradition that believes that the name inspires prosperity — in a nutshell is a celebration of Rajasthan and its many handicrafts. The store is located on the way to Vagator beach and honestly, it was their outdoor display that caught our attention. The colourful window full of mementos and souvenirs looks distinctly different from the usual hippie roadside stores in Goa.

Inside the riot of colours spreads out through an array of clothes in bohemian prints and styles, jewellery, souvenirs and travel collectibles and lots of gems and crystals (they even had pipe cleaners encrusted with crystals!).

What we loved the most were these colourful crystal-resin coasters that were hidden in plain sight in one corner of the shop. You will also find some quirky home decor items here and if kitsch is your style inclination, you might just end up spending hours here. The items are priced anywhere between INR 200 and go as high as INR 10,000 for this intricately patterned elephant in metal and wood, adorned with Rajasthani motifs.

What Could Be Better

For some of the stuff, we did think that the prices are on the higher side, however when you account for the fact that most of the stuff is sourced from Rajasthan, you’ve to be prepared to shell out a premium.
