What's Happening

Formidable theatre actor, producer Lillete Dubey stages two of her plays Gauhar and Salaam Noni Appa, both in English for the 1st time in Goa.

Gauhar is based on the life of an Armenian Christian who later converted to Islam, and was a gifted musician with a repertoire that had many ranges. She was also one of the first Indian artists to be recorded and went on create some 600 records, which are thankfully still available for the fans to listen to. So if you are a fan, this is a good way to know more about her life, passions, stories of her music and her journey. This play will be staged on October 3 at 7pm.

Salaam Noni Appa is adapted from a short story from Twinkle Khanna's book The Legend of Lakshmi Prasad'. The story is from the view point of a young man, observing two older ladies who are also sisters, and their lives after marriage, children and widowhood. The narrative also challenges stereotypes when Noni Appa falls for a younger married man, and the challenges she faces in being true to herself. This play will be staged on October 4 at 7pm.
