If for some reason you missed out on the first edition of the SAF, then you better make sure you do not miss this one. Book your travel to Goa for the kickoff of this festival on December 15 and hang around till December 22 to submerge yourself for 8 days in everything that makes life worth living.
Music, dance, drama, costumes, art, sculptures, history, heritage, food all gets encompassed in the Serendipity Arts Festival. This year they have some 70 art projects, including 40 that are specifically commissioned for the festival. Held along the banks of the river Mandovi, at different venues, this ground breaking multidisciplinary festival is curated by some eminent artists and creative collaborators with the aim of “making the important interesting”.
They already had a grand pre-event kick off at the recently renovated iconic and the fabulous Opera House of Mumbai. This year is all about scale and pushing boundaries, as SAF will be experimenting with site, form & display.
What Else?
The SAF 2017 will feature projects curated by stalwarts in their respective fields, Dinesh Khanna & Prashant Panjiar for photography, Ranjit Hoskote & Riyas Komu for visual arts, Manu Chandra & Odette Mascarenhas for culinary arts, Sanjeev Bhargava & Tanushree Shankar for dance, Lillete Dubey & Anuradha Kapur for theatre and Shubha Mudgal and Ranjit Barot for music.
Last year they had a whole circus tent set up for a show that would have given Cirque Du Soleil a run for it’s money, so can’t wait to see what they are planning for this year. The SAF is also looking to address issues such as arts edication, patronage, interdisciplinary discourse and accessibility of the arts.
We are looking forward to being surprised, and walking around our city with public art installations all around it that will definitely transform it into a vibrant cultural space. The best part, one does not need to be a VIP to participate in the festival, just register online and it is free for all.
#LBBTip
The SAF 2017 organisers are planning to have shuttle buses to take you from one venue to the other, so just park your vehicle in a designated parking spot and forget about it for the next few hours.
