St.Patrick's Day Is Around The Corner & Goa Has Joined The Celebrations

What Is It?

Though we are far away from Ireland, it has definitely not stopped us from partaking in the Irish celebrations of St.Patrick’s Day {or as our Irish friends call it, St. Paddy’s Day}. And we know just where to go to indulge in all things green.

Why Green? Well this celebration originally started in Ireland to celebrate Saint Patrick as a religious feast. And all because he drove away serpents from the Island country which some say never existed in the first place. Whether true or not, he is now part of the folklore and gives the world another reason to celebrate. And it is said that he used the Shamrock, a three-leaved plant to explain the ‘Holy Trinity’ to the Irish then.

Tell Me More

Now that we’ve given you a premise, let’s move on to the more important things in life- where’s the party at? With the luck of the Irish on your side, you could head to the INOX Movie Theatre Courtyard, where the guys behind Jameson Irish Whiskey have been organising the biggest St. Patrick’s Day celebrations in Goa for the almost three years now. Kicking off at 7pm on March 17, the whole courtyard becomes a sea of green with live music, food stalls, and dancing, but sadly no green beer or drinks.

In the past this street party has had some of Goa’s top bands performing, games, food and lots of Jameson of course. The after party continues at Mojo’s, the Irish Pub in Panjim. This year they are amping it up with a great band from Bangalore called Perfect Strangers performing along with one of Goa’s favourite bands called True Blue. And did we mention, lots of Jameson goodies as well as other prizes are on offer too?

So, We're Saying...

If you need another excuse to party, here it is. Just make sure you wear lots of green and get your Irish spirit on!
