Want a room with a view and loads of quiet time? Book a room at this rather atmospheric B&B built in the vernacular architectural style. You get a garden all to yourself. Plus the structure stands by a river -  on stilts!

What Makes It Awesome

Aerodene Cottage is a 68-year-old restored home along the Umshyrpi River in Shillong. It is truly picturesque standing on stone stilts two feet off the ground, supported by a wooden frame with a design that is unique to Northeast India. They have an attached modern annexe with five rooms whose wide windows all open on to really pretty private gardens - perfect chilling and reading a book.

You will love the the chintz furnishings here - very old England, reminding you of your childhood Enid Blyton holidays! Have home-cooked food in the dining room which has a cosy fireplace. The place is perfect for just chilling and some much-needed R&R, but there's also lots to do. You can go on treks, do some yoga, have a relaxing massage in their wellness centre.

Anything Else?

They have WiFi, room heaters, laundry services, and airport transfers (if you ask for it). If you want travel around a bit, they will book you a dedicated car. Check here and here for more.
