MAJLISH, the first Indo-Dutch theatre group, is going to present Munni O Saat Chowkidaar (script by Manoj Mitra) at Gyan Manch (Kolkata) on 14 August 2017. It is a comedy that focuses on a strong socio-political issue and centres around some characters which are dubious in nature. The central character in the play Dhritikanto, a middle aged businessman wanted to be the night watchman of the wife of Sourav who was an employee of Dhritikanto and was about to leave for a business trip. Sourav smelled something wrong and appointed a series of guards to keep an eye on his wife Munni and Dhritikanto. No one was able to perform his or her duties religiously and Sourav was forced to come back from his trip to see the mess going on in his apartment. The wife of Dhritikanto, Sunanda, had a dream of becoming a political leader. She tried to win the election and used to extort money for this purpose from her husband even by kidnapping him. Dhritikanto actually decided to be the night watchman at Sourav's house just to escape from the grip of the kidnappers appointed by his wife Sunanda. The story vividly depicts how the ruthless political ambition of a person could bring devastation to own personal life and relationship. The neatly woven plot shows that the intent desire for love and affection that reside inside every human being never die away. What has happened to Dhritikanto and Sunanda at the end? What would happen to Munni? What would Sourav finally do to save Munni? To know all these, you have to watch the play - all of you are cordially invited to Gyan Manch on 14 August - show time starts at 6:30 pm.
