Ahiritola Sarbajanin Durgotsav is renowned for its artistic talent and rich cultural legacy. Among the various Durga pujas in North Kolkata, this one is among the most well-known. 'Probaho', which means 'flow' or 'frequency', is this year's theme. Another interesting fact about Ahiritola is that Job Charnock, the founder of Calcutta, an English administrator from the 17th century, first set foot in Ahiritola Ghat on the eastern bank of the Hooghly.
