What Makes It Awesome
Aminia Guest House on Zakaria Street began as a hotel-cum-restaurant nearly 90 years ago. Travellers might find it a little difficult to locate the hotel, but you can ask for the guest house and virtually anyone will be able to guide you. If you are worried about getting a room, don’t worry, because Aminia offers 27 rooms of which 8 have ACs and the rest are non-AC rooms (so maybe not in summer!). While the place isn't fancy, it wins points for being in the thick of things. You get to dive right in the middle of heritage the moment you decide to plan a stay here. These rooms include, single, double and triple bed options, with a 24-hour check-in and check-out policy.
The best part about its location is that it is right opposite one of the biggest mosques in Kolkata – the Nakhoda Masjid. To satisfy your hunger pangs, you also get to choose from the wealthy bank of restaurants on Zakaria Street which are otherwise flocked by thousands during the month of Ramzan.
What Could Be Better
Since Kolkata is a cauldron during summers, we really hope they increase their total number of air-conditioned rooms.
