Art Barter, Never-Seen-Before Pictures & Live Music: Calcutta Instagrammers' Pop-Up Has It All
Shortcut
What Is It?
You’ve seen them on social media {they’re literally everywhere!} and now you get to see them in person. Calcutta Instagrammers will be hosting Calcutta Art Confluence which is going to be all about art, photography, and any form of expression to celebrate Bengal. If you’ve been for the Delhi Art Slam, you’ll be stoked that the idea has finally come to Kolkata!
There are going to be art installations, photo stories, doodles, wall art, photographs, workshops and talks, and so much more. All the work that will be displayed has been submitted by budding photographers and artists of the city and all of the work has never been seen before {not even on Instagram}. You’ll get a first look at some seriously talented artistic expressions. The doodles and paintings are all works of college students of the city so you may find a buddy’s work up on the wall!
A little birdie told us to watch out for the photo stories which are all going to centre around unconventional and unique festivals, traditions and culture of Kolkata and Bengal. Art Rickshaw, where the confluence will be held, is the perfect hub for budding artists to come and get some serious inspo {love the detailed décor on the walls!}.
Who Is It For?
Budding photographers, artists, die-hard Kolkatans or all of the above, you can’t miss this celebration of Bengal.
Why Should I Go?
If the incredible pictures here haven’t convinced you enough, the workshops and talks by seriously talented photographers and artists might.
There are also a bunch of fun activities planned including a mobile photography wall, live music, poetry recitation and an art barter. What’s that? A first-of-its-kind exchange of talent. If you’re a photographer and you meet someone at the confluence who is a musician, you can take a photo of them and in turn they’ll sing you a song – how cool is that?
Art Rickshaw will also give you a pottery session where you can get down and dirty making pots for under INR 15!
Anything Else?
Work by Sammya Brata and other members of Calcutta Instagrammers will also be on display so you can get a first-hand viewing experience of their work.
