Mawlynnong is a small village located in the East Khasi Hills District of Meghalaya. It's a 3-hour drive (90 km) from Shillong, the drive to Mawlynnong itself is very scenic; hills clad with tall betel nut trees and more.
Mawlynnong is known for its cleanliness, but other than that, the houses there were too beautiful, and the entire village itself is so green and gorgeous. They have bamboo baskets for garbage collection. Smoking and use of plastic are banned in the village.
They do have homestays and households that serve food for tourists, the food is predominantly non-vegetarian, so if you're a vegetarian, you might find it difficult to grab a bite.
