Naushiijaan was the first Kolkata standalone restaurant to introduce the melt-in-mouth galawti and kakori kebabs. They just turned nine and celebrated by launching a new outlet in Jadavpur.

The Royal Experience

You will be transported to the Nawabi era the moment you step inside this 40-seater restaurant. We loved the small details like the ghazals and Sufi songs being played in the background, the 90-year-old hookah, the cosy private dining space with a selfie corner and a princess’s traditional lehenga adorning a wall.

Not Just Biryani

Awadhi food is not just about the biryani. The kebabs hold a significant place in the menu. Apart from the tender galawtis and kakoris, there’s burra, pasinda, and chapli kebabs which are equally appealing to the tastebuds. Don’t miss out on the Nawabi Punjey – mutton ribs slow-cooked overnight in milk and cream to give it the perfect softness. Naushiijaan is the only place in Kolkata that serves the authentic Murg Mussallam (INR 650) – eat your way into the cashew-saffron flavoured chicken and you will be suprised by a bed of biryani stuffed inside the chicken along with a boiled eggs! This needs to be pre-ordered. There are over 15 varieties of biryanis on the menu in both veg and non-veg options – handi, parda, kofta handi, fish keema, biryani Naushiijaan {rice layered with spinach paste} and more. Pair these with Magaj Masala {mutton brain gravy}, mirchi salan, and qorma. Finish off the meal with phirni and shahi tukda. Cool down with a glass of Masala Chaas, a perfect desi concoction to beat the heat. This thick yogurt based drink comes with spices and chillies. If you are more of an ‘aam-admi’, go for the season’s special Mango Lassi.

The new eatery is located diagonally opposite KPC Medical College and beside the Titan showroom. It is open from noon to 11.30pm and home delivers as well.
