Chutney means condiments to rest of the world but to a Bengali it is Chatni, and Bengali chatni has to be sweet, bit sour; sometimes with a hint of hot spices. In fact it is a fine balance between all these flavours.
Kancha Aam er Chatni or Raw Green Mango Chutney is a summer special Bengali delicacy.
Mango Chatni is an authentic Bengali Chatni, which is served at the end and just before the dessert of a full course Bengali lunch menu.This chatni should be sweet & spicy, thick and sticky in consistancy. Lots of sugar or jaggery is used to make this chatni. At the end some roasted ground spices are added to make it little spicy.
