Our love for food is not just limited to mangsho bhaat, Chinese, puchkas and other kinds of street food. The delectable dal makhani, butter chicken, butter naan and all that sinful food from up north delights our taste buds too, which is why we've made you a list of some of the best restaurants in the city that serve delish North Indian food. Read on.

Bar B Q

This iconic restaurant, without a doubt, serves some of the best North Indian food in the city. Located in Park Street, this one serves the most soul-satisfying dal makhani as well as a scrumptious spread of kebabs. The Saag Makkai, Rogan Josh, Mutton Biryani and Kabuli Naan are equally delectable.

Elahi

Don't even get us started on how amazing the food here is! It's nothing short of paradise for those who just can't get enough of North Indian cuisine, especially non-vegetarian. Vegetarians! Don't worry. There's lots for you too. The Galouti Kebab, Khushrang Paneer Tikka, Murgh Chilman Bahar, Dal Gomti, Subz Mili Juli and the Murgh Dum Biryani will compel you to come back for more. Even the desserts are worth trying - go for the Ala Jannat Kheer, Hari Mirch Ka Halwa and Chukandar E Afroz.

Haveli

Haveli in Salt lake quite perfectly captures the essence of Rajasthan when it comes to the ambience. With a variety of tandoor dishes, Indian breads, sabzi, dal and rice options, this one promises to take you on a memorable culinary journey. Don't miss out on the Shaam Savera, Sabj Malai Kofta, Sabj Jhalfreji and Dal-E-Haveli. Paneer lovers must try the Paneer Lababdar.

Sanjha Chulha

Sanjha Chulha is the place to go to if scrumptious North Indian food is what you're craving for. This dhaba-style restaurant near Ruby Hospital offers buffet as well as a la carte options. Chicken and mutton lovers are in for a real treat thanks to the variety available. Go for the Chicken Bharta, Chicken Kali Mirch, Bhuna Mutton, Dal Gosht, Malai Kofta, Chana Masala and biryani. Finish it all of with the mouth-watering Gajar Ka Halwa. You're not gonna regret it.

Jaisalmer

This one in Salt Lake is another gem of a place when it comes to North Indian food. Located just beside Refinery091, Jaisalmer is another restaurant that offers a lavish spread of North Indian food. The Amritsari Chana Masala and Veg Chop Masala is to-die-for, as is the Chicken Lucknowi Hundi and Lal Maas. Go for the Kebab Platter. Finish it all off with hot gulab jamuns.

Riyasat-E-Hind

Located near Quest Mall, Riyasat-E-Hind is like a dhaba but with a modern, or shall we say, a royal twist. They have a delightful spread of heavenly dishes from up north sure to leave you with a happy stomach and soul. Opt for their Mutton Biryani that's a riot of flavours as soon as you take the first bite. Vegetarians must try the Sabzi Gulistan that's made with a lot of veggies and paneer in a thick gravy. Pair it up with a Butter Naan or a Lachcha Paratha and you're all set for a heavenly gastronomical journey.

Azad Hind Dhaba

The Special Butter Chicken, Dal Tadka and Butter Naan are hot favourites here. Go for the Reshmi Kebabs if you're looking for a lighter option. The kebabs are tender and juicy just the way we like it. Paneer lovers must try the melt-in-your-mouth Paneer Butter Masala. Don't leave without washing down a glass of thick lassi. Ah! We're craving for it already.

Moti Mahal Delux

Delhi-based Moti Mahal Delux is the place to go to for a lavish and scrumptious North Indian spread. The owner is credited with inventing Tandoori Chicken and Butter Chicken, we are told! So, obviously, you have to try these while you're here. Definitely try their special Tandoori Soya Chaap or Mutton Galouti Kebab. For mains, take a bite of their Veg Nargis Kofta and Dum Ki Kali Dal.

Zaranj

Located beside the Indian Museum, Zaranj is an iconic restaurant that serves up quite a storm with their authentic North Indian and Mughlai food from the Northwest Frontier Province area. Their legendary Zaranji Raan is a must-try – whole tandoori leg of lamb, marinated with rum and in the chef’s own recipe. It takes over half an hour to prepare so it’s best if you call in advance and place an order. We loved the Dahi Ke Kebab, Nawabi Gosht Tilla  (roasted chunks of lamb cooked in tandoor) and Murgh Nawabi too.
