Team LBB was at one of the most exciting events of the year – the annual celebration of the beginning of the Christmas season at Flurys with the cake-mixing ceremony. Giant mounds of secret cake mix is laid out on a huge table ready to be mixed. Chefs spent hours pouring over the huge table and laying out the mixture just right – they placed the ingredients to paint a typical Christmas scene complete with snowman, reindeer and Christmas trees.

The soon-to-be 90-year-old bakery starts their cake mixing over a month before the festival. Heaps of secret ingredients {we identified cherries, raisins, dried fruit, cinnamon and other spices, and oodles of alcohol {Old Monk rum, Honey Bee Brandy, Officer’s Choice Whisky, and a bottle of champagne} went in to the mixture. Did you know that Flurys and other bakeries keep their mixtures for over a year? The longer you wait, the more booze soaks in to the mixture and the more potent it is! The mixture can be stores up to 10 years and the older it is, the better it tastes!
