A small wooden cottage situated at an altitude of 6,500 ft and surrounded by thick Himalayan forests, the Dawaipani Rovers Eco Resort is just what the doctor ordered if you are looking to cut off from civilisation for a while.
On a ridge overlooking the hamlet with the majestic Kanchenjunga range in front, Dawaipani is one of those undiscovered quiet villages in the Himalayan foothills of Darjeeling district (it's just 15km from the popular hill station). Unfortunately, we hear it is an 'upcoming' tourist destination - soon you can bid adieu to all the natural beauty. So go while it's still pristine. And remember - don't leave any human footprints behind (like plastic, packets of chips etc).
The best part about the resort are the private balconies with views of Kanchenjunga and with Darjeeling town in the foreground. The rooms too make the most of the stunning view with big glass windows. If city life has burnt you out, enjoy a a few leisurely days surrounded by the beauty of the hills and forests. You could also trek or drive to Lamahata, Tinchuley-Takdah. Or drive down to Darjeeling for a breakfast at Glenary's or lunch at Keventer's.
