What Makes It Awesome

If you haven’t planned your summer vacay spot yet, do take a look at the Tindharia tea resort. You’ll have the company of rolling hills, antique fireplaces, and brilliantly-flowering gardens.

Tindharia is a bio-organic boutique tea resort that makes for an ideal family weekend getaway. Set in a town in the Darjeeling district on the Hill Cart road, this characterful English cottage with oak beams, fireplaces and stylish furnishings stands high on a ridge with surreal, 360-degree views of tea plantations.

The vacay begins with a warm welcome featuring traditional flower garlands, and a dance performance (you can join in too!). The residence feels like you’re back in colonial times, with antique furnishing, high-top fireplaces, British hat-hangers, and fresh organic produce straight from the backyard. Interestingly, the bungalow marks the footprints of Rabindranath Tagore, with an heirloom workbench (where a part of his seminal work, Gitanjali, was composed). For all of you who like penning down your thoughts, we know which corner to find you in!

The mystical views from their lush lawn, radiant flowers, and gorgeous dreamy butterflies look right out of a fairy tale (it's paradise for photographers!). You can sip on a variety of tea from their plantations, perched under the trees in the garden, enjoying a book or carrom. Or you could take walks around the neighbourhood or trek up the hills.

Take the toy train to Darjeeling town or to the Ghoom monastery. In the evenings, you can laze below the twinkling skies, and rejoice in their karaoke nights, with bonfires, amazing food and beer! They also have a tea-tasting session where you will get to know the difference in aromas, colours, and palates.

Pro-Tip

The holiday bungalow is just an hour’s drive from Siliguri airport. All you need to do is to book a plane {or train} to Siliguri; and they’ll drive you through alluring hills and mountains to the beautiful resort.

For all selfie-holics, they let you take pics dolled up in traditional tea plantation garments. The tariff is  about INR 42,000 per night for a group of six {inclusive of taxes and all home-made meals on a set menu basis]. Relax in total privacy as the 3-bedroom bungalow is offered per booking and not to multiple bookings for the same night. For details, e-mail: balajiagro@vsnl.com.
