This will be the 66th edition of the pathbreaking, all-night classical music fest.

What Is It?

It’s a classical music festival which has been graced by several Indian classical artists who have been an integral part of the genre such as Bhimsen Joshi, Bade Ghulam Ali Khan, Ravi Shankar and Bismillah Khan. It has also been a platform to showcase the young talents who have a keen interest in music.

Why Should I Go?

Because you can expect the who’s who of the Indian classical music scene to be there. A massive number of people from all over West Bengal and other parts of the world make it a point to be a part of the music festival held every January — over 4,000 people are expected this year. It’s an all-nigher  — the event starts late in the evening and goes on till morning.

This year, the fest will pay a tribute to Girija Devi, who passed away in October this year. Some of the musicians who are coming are Hindustani classical singer Chhannulal Mishra, Hariparasad Chaurasia, Rashid Khan, L. Subramaniam, Pt Jasraj, Viswamohan Bhatt, and Parveen Sultana. Check out the website for the full schedule.

Anything Else?

Take a look at their Facebook page to stay updated.
