This Eatery Has A Road For A Name And European Fare For A Charming Date

    Ballygunge, Kolkata

Bored of the usual Chinese and don't want to stuff yourself on the high calories of pasta alfredo or the cordon bleu (aka 'continental cuisine')? Ekdalia Rd promises to fix your craving for tasty European food and charm you with its rustic decor.

    What Makes It Awesome

A popular road as its namesake and a restored 70-year-old Kolkata house for its address, Ekdalia Rd promises to woo you with its tasty European fares and the pretty indoor setting. Breakfast with bae or lunch with the fam, this place can be good for either occasion and mood.

Tuck yourself in the nook by the large glass windows and you have a perfect spot to relish a breakfast platter of sandwiches, sausages, hand-pressed juice and pancakes. The burnt brick and the very-European white-washed brick walls stand to create a calming rustic charm that's peppered with nostalgia by the old louvre windows and modern ease by the geometric shaped funky teal furniture.

An indulgence for pescatarians, you've got to try the fish with polenta for some fresh water mackerel or their red and black snapper fish and chips (it has robust flavour and none of the blandness of a basa). Meataholics don't give their New Zealand Lamb Rack that comes topped in chimichuri sauce or their grilled pork chop a miss. If you've been craving for good steak, you can give Ekdalia Rd's lamb steak (comes in katsu or terriyaki sauce) or the grilled king fish steak a try. Most of the main course come accompanied with herb black rice or with mash and veggies. Sign off your wholesome meal with their homemade coconut ice-cream that comes topped on a brownie. Appetisers start at INR 250 and main course at INR 300.

    What Could Be Better

The veg options are certainly lacking, but the egg plant rolattini and the crunchy papaya salad are good meal options.

Ekdalia Rd has lunch and dinner buffet on offer for INR 599 (AI) every day. Though the lunch and dinner hours clock from 12-3pm and 6-10:30pm, respectively; you could always drop in between 3-6pm to enjoy their High-Tea time of sandwiches, tempuras and lavash. Sip on their Savana Iced tea (they have Karma Kettle teas in the house) and make for a delightful afternoon with your gang.
