Yeah we know this is not the time to be visiting art galleries, and appreciating paintings and drawings showcased in exhibitions, except, you could actually do that!
That's right. Emami Art is holding an online solo exhibition called ‘Tales of our Time’ showcasing the essence of the current trying times of pandemic that we are livingin. The artist in focus? Anwar Chitrakar, born in a patua family in Naya village of West Midnapore. He has received his training in Bengal folk paintings, working within the stylistic boundaries of Kalighat painting.
All of his works being showcased are done with earth colour on paper. In the pata paintings showcased in ‘Tales of our Times’, Chitrakar has worked vigorously on the detailing of the iconic figuration, flowing lines and tonal volumes. A few examples of his work would be 'Hot Hero', where he reinterprets the old theme of Nayak and Nayikas in the new light of the lockdown situation, 'Gari Ashchhe', 'Ar Hingsa Noy', 'Swapner Sangsar' (the picture is about the hope and desire of the common man), to name a few.
