Go On An Adventure Ride At This Stunning Feluda Theme Park In New Town

What Makes It Awesome

New Town peeps, don’t be surprised if you suddenly come across Feluda, Satyajit Ray’s iconic sleuth, bobbing about on a camel. Before you start suspecting our sanity let’s kill the suspense. Check out Sonar Kella Udyan, a Feluda theme park launched last year in New Town (behind Home Town), to commemorate 50th year of Feluda’s first book appearance.

The entry gate itself offers a prelude to the mystery that’s awaiting inside. On the pillars you’ll find several ceramic murals depicting Feluda’s adventures from the movie Sonar Kella. Apart from the main entry gate, there are eight other wicker gates. Upon entering, the path of paver blocks led us to a fountain surrounded by artsy walls, bearing sketches of other iconic characters of the movie. We perched comfortably on one of the seats shaped like tablas!

We went click click upon spotting a wall bearing a stellar sketch of Feluda’s iconic pose - legs folded and a cigarette in hand and another introducing us to Feluda's confidante and writer friend Jayatu aka Lalmohan Ganguly. However, the main attraction of this recreation spot are the three stunning life-like sculptures of Feluda, Jatayu and Feluda’s nephew Topshe, perched atop camels, representing various moments from the movie where the ace detective chases kidnappers in the desert state of Rajasthan. Heaps of sand, shaped like dunes, provide the perfect backdrop.

If you're a true Feluda fan, there's no excuse why you shouldn't drop by this park.
