The gods of coffee, Starbucks, are opening their doors in the City of Joy on March 21 and here’s what you need to know.

Not Just One

For the first time, Starbucks is going to open not just one but three outlets all on the same day. The flagship store is on Park Street {just near Hard Rock Café} in Park Mansions. The other two outlets will be in malls — one each in Acropolis and South City.

Not Just Coffee

Not just coffee {although we can’t resist a Caramel Frappuccino, Macchiatto or a classic Americano}, the outlets will also have small bites and desserts up for grabs. There’s a decent selection of both veggie and non-vegetarian items  — from your staple chilli cheese toast to the more hearty egg white and meat croissant and the more-ish meat lovers sandwich, the carb-laden savouries will keep you going through the day. Grab a muffin or cookie to-go if you’re in a hurry.

Not a fan of coffee? No worries. They also have a Teavana menu — an extensive range of teas for all chai lovers.

Only In Kolkata

Starbucks Kolkata is also surprising us with City of Joy special desserts. Two sweet items are going to be available only in Kolkata stores: the chamcham tiramisu and the chocolate rasmalai mousse. Although it may sound really ‘out there’, the desserts are actually really well executed balancing the signature Starbucks flavours with the comforting so-Kolkata ones.

Only On Park Street

If you take a look at the wall as soon as you enter on the left you’ll see a huge mural of the Starbucks mermaid. The wall-art is one-of-its-kind. Each long lock of the mermaid’s hair is made with a different fabric and is representative of something unique to Starbucks. Ask any of the baristas and they’ll walk you through what each lock means.

So, We’re Saying…

Save the date: March 21 is when you need to be lining up outside the store to get your venti {or tall or grande} frappuccinos and giant cookies.
