Toto To The Rescue
Have you ever visited the Fort William? If you have, you know the long walks within the premises can be a pain {especially in summer!}. So to help civilians, residents {there are a few thousand people living on the premises!} and employees, battery operated rickshaws called ‘Totos’ will now run within the premises.
What’s even more awesome than the fact that it is a huge step towards becoming more eco-friendly? It’s only INR 2 per passenger per trip. The Totos will run right through the day from 8 am to 8 pm and you can hop on and off at your convenience. It’s a huge service to the men who operate the rickshaws as well; they now have a stable source of income.
Anything Else?
Fort William, the headquarters of Eastern Command, turned 235 years old in 2016. Interested in digging a bit more? The Vijay Smarak {War Memorial} at the Fort William has recently been opened to the public if you want to check it out. It looks especially spectacular after sundown.
