This little shoe shop beside the KC Das outlet near Paradise Cinema in Esplanade is one of the many Chinese shoe shops that populated the area back in the day. Today, it’s among the last shops standing selling primarily handmade leather shoes for men. The 81-year old establishment run by David Chen (the third generation of the Chen family in the shoe business!) specialises in handmaking formal leather shoes for men. The shop name was supposed to be ‘Chen-Fo’ but because of Kolkata’s inclination to mispronounce, it became ‘Sen-Fo’!
They also do cool new designs (we love their cowboy-inspired shoes!) to keep their collections fresh and trendy. What’s even more awesome? Their range is so reasonable – starting at just INR 680, most of the shoes average INR 800.
Struggling to find shoes for your giant feet? Sen-Fo is among the few places that stocks shoes and sandals in sizes 11 to 14 as well. Starting at just INR 700, the shoes and sandals will last you a couple of years at the least. Instead of splurging on Hush Puppies, you’ll get a sturdy, classy pair from here for INR 1,000.
If you promise to place a minimum order for shoes, they’ll even customise a shoe mould especially to your feet. Custom-making the shoes to your colour preference (they do bright red and sparkly white!) as well as to your size is one of the huge advantages of visiting this shop.
