Have You Checked Out The New Haute Mughlai Destination?
What Makes It Awesome?
If you are looking for Mughlai cuisine with a difference, The Saffron Tree located on Southern Avenue can be a brilliant choice. Infused with the rich history and fragrant spices, this place serves some amazing fusion Mughlai food and present them amazingly. As you enter, you will be greeted with a warmth that will make you feel happy immediately. With hospitality as good as the food, this place is a must-go place in Kolkata. We started our journey with the Chapli Kebab which was a Mughlai take on the Pulled Pork Loin Chops. Seasoned with the Mughal spices, the kebabs were delicious, juicy and tender. We decided to go for another starter and this time, it was Achari Prawn. Coated with vermicelli, this had a cheesy tang to it and extremely delicious. We also ordered a plate of Lucknowi Dum Biryani complete with long grain fragrant rice, juicy and tender mutton, a boiled egg and potato (what's biryani without that potato in it, yeah I am a true blue Calcuttan) We did not have the room for dessert, so leave that for our next visit.
What Could Be Better?
Can't think of any, everything seemed perfect. Since it's a family restaurant, the music was kept low, but wouldn't mind much, if they increase the volume a tad bit higher.
