Once just a remote and sparse area, Kankurgachi has gradually added a string of awesome eateries, top-notch salons, and boutiques and shops. Here’s a guide to navigating this suburb.

Go Green

If you’re looking for tasty vegetarian options, Go Green is one of your best bets. The menu is one of those ‘multicuisine’ types but has inexpensive choices. A meal for two will charge you less than INR 1,000.

Pawan Putra

A recent addition to the hoard of restaurants in and around Kankurgachi, Pawan Putra is another veg-only, multicuisine place best known for their tasty North Indian food. You’ll love the illustrations on the walls.

Onam

Who doesn’t love a filling South Indian meal? Onam in Kankurgachi serves authentic South Indian food. Their staff is friendly and the ambience decent. But they do have a fairly small sitting area.

Nasta

Nasta is a regular breakfast place for many people, especially on Sundays. Head here if you want hot, crispy club kachoris with sabzi, and freshly made jalebis.

Beer Republic

This amazingly popular microbrewery is one of the best in town. nhey have the happiest offers during their happy hours and serve awesome pocket-friendly food. We recommend you try the amber, blonde, or the republic brews here. A pint of beer here costs INR 200.

Cafes & Hookah Bars

Kankurgachi is also home to a large number of popular outlets. These include the recently opened The Belgian Waffle Co, a big and beautiful Café Coffee Day, good old Domino’s, the very popular Chai Break, and many other places. There are also a good number of hookah bars around here. Cafe 360 Degree, Firefly, and Aqua Java Decibel are the most popular options.

Mani Square Mall

Although not the best mall in the city, Mani Square houses many popular shopping brands like Chemistry, United Colors of Benetton, Reebok, Westside, FBB, a large number of dining options, from Flame N Grill, Chapter 2, Hoppipola, and Kaidi Kitchen.

They’ve also got Keventers, Pizza Hut, McDonalds, CCD, and The Belgian Bakery. Book lover? We promise you, you won’t want to walk out of the Starmark here.

Bakeries, Florists, & Gift Shops

You can find a large number of florists and gift shops around the main Kankurgachi lane. Amongst the most popular places are Anmol Kriti, Bengal Blooms, and Ferns N Petals, who are always stocked with the most beautiful fresh bouquets and other gifts.

Sweet Heart, Island and Heart of the City are other place you can head to if you’re searching for sweets or thoughtful gifts for your besties. And if you’re looking for delicious baked goodies, head to Bake O Cake, The Rose, or Chocotarian for the best cakes.

Boutiques & Clothing

Kankurgachi has some of the best boutiques of the city. Walk into Sri Vastram, Vaya, WNW or Blue Boutique if you’re looking for unique designer ethnic wear. You can also go to Rashmi’s Boutique, a relatively cheaper alternative for expensive designs. Other shops for ethnic wear around here include Radharani, Paridhan, and Simaaya. If you’re looking for casual wear, check out Pantaloons, the Big Shop, or Turtle, for men’s clothing.

Salons And Spa

You will find a whopping number of salons around the area. NY, Jawed Habib, Fame Zone and Eye Catcher in Mani Square are the best of the lot. Walk in for a relaxing time or if you’re looking to revamp your look. Want to spend a peaceful, spa day? Head to The Thai Harmony, Magic Spell Spa, or The Thai Spa in Mani Square with your girl gang for a day well spent!
