The Elgin Fairlawn is located at the centre of the city's liveliest and most cosmopolitan area. The hotel has won multiple accolades, including the Green Hotelier Award and six National Tourism Awards. The rooms are separated into Deluxe Double, Double, Single, and the Shashi Kapoor Room. Famous wrestler "King Kong" stayed at the hotel in the 1950s, destroying furniture and consuming enough food to feed an army. Patrick Swayze and the actors of City of Joy, which was partially filmed here, as well as travel writer Eric Newby and his wife Wanda, were regular visitors. The hotel became a part of The Elgin Hotels & Resorts Group in 2018.
