One of the most iconic Durga pujas of Kolkata is about to get a venue-shift this year. Fire and Emergency Services Minister Sujit Bose informed that due to safety concerns, the pujo will be held this year at the Central Avenue fire station. It is sad to hear given that the the pujo is being held in the park since 1969. However, before 1969, it used to be conducted at the fire station. You must be wondering the reason for this surprising move? Professors from JU have warned that a Britsh-era reservoir underneath the park being unsafe and dilapidated. Of course we are going to miss the rides this time, especially our childhood favourite, the Ferris Wheel.
