Keep It Cool: 5 Pools To Sign Up With This Summer

Nothing feels better than a pool during the scorching Kolkata summer {which is just around the corner}. The city has several pools you can join for the season {some also let you pay per day or for a few months}.

Saltlake Swimming Pool, Bidhannagar Swimming Association

With two indoor pools and classes for novices and amateurs, the BF block swimming pool is a preferred destination fo Salt Lake folks. It is known for its coaching classes for children and women.

Fees: Students have to pay INR 1,350 per season {for a fixed half an hour slot}, INR 2,100 per season for any one hour slot. For non-students {more than 21 years}, it is INR 1,750 per season {for a fixed half an hour slot} and INR 3,100 per season for any one hour slot.

Timings: 6 am to 9 am; and 4 pm to 7pm {except Sunday and Monday}.

YMCA Swimming Club

Located in old Kolkata, the YMCA Swimming Club in College Square boasts of a 50-meter long outdoor pool. They offer pro training for novices for under INR 500.

Fees: Learners have to pay around INR 480; swimmers INR. 440 and special members INR 650.

Timings: 7am to 10am and 4pm to 6 pm {except Sunday}.

Indian Life Saving Society

Indian Life Saving Society, or Anderson Club as it is popularly known, houses both indoor and outdoor pools and has provision for amateur swimmers.

Fees: They charge INR 1,200 for kids and INR 2,200 for adults per season. Swimming time slot is 45 minutes.

Timings: 6 am to 8.30 am and 4 pm to 6 pm.

The Tollygunge Club

Established by Sir William Cruikshank in the year 1895, the Tollygunge Club is known for its quality of water and for being one of the oldest established swimming clubs in Kolkata. Currently, the pool is only open for members.
Guests are welcome along the members. The charges for guests are as follows:  INR 25 per day on weekdays and INR 50 per day on weekends and holidays.

Timings: 6am to 8.30 pm every day {Monday closed}.

Calcutta Sports Association

Situated adjacent to Rabindra Sarobar near Golpark, the Calcutta Sports Association houses the most preferred swimming pool for residents of South Kolkata. It has an outdoor pool, which spans a length of 50-meters and boasts of separate ladies swimming sessions.

Fees: INR 1,800 for adults for one season; INR 1,000 for kids for one season.
