Take a break from the mainstream churn-outs of Bollywood-Hollywood. Head over to Nandan II this week to see films from across the world. It’s kids’ fest, technically, but the films are too good to miss.

What Is It?
It’s the 17th chapter of the International Children’s Film Festival which is held every year in Kolkata. They have an amazing array of films from across the world. Unfortunately, we came to know about this a little late. The second phase has just begun – the first one got over in July. But still, hurry over, there’s a lot left to see.
Where Is It?
At Nandan II. Every day till August 4, between 3pm to 5pm.
Why Should I Go?
Because you have to expose your mind to other cinema apart from Hollywood and Bollywood, right? And this is a great line-up. You have The Way Home from Korea about a spoilt young city boy who has to live in a tiny rural village with his grandmother. Hotchpotch from Iran is based on a story by the celebrated Iranian author Hushang Moradi Kermani about a man who has to take care of his newborn baby after his wife dies. Iqbal Farooq And The Secret Recipe from Denmark is about a 13-year-old boy, his little brother Tariq, and their friend Sille who accidentally blow up their school. Mister Mirror Man & Other Stories is a bunch of short animated stories from Mexico, and The Snow Queen is a Russian 3D computer-animated fantasy loosely based on the famous story by Hans Christian Andersen.
Anything Else?
All children, including accompanying guardians, are welcome in the shows. Even if you do not qualify as a kid anymore, we suggest you go for this. Check their Facebook page for the schedule.
