The lights are up, the buskers have already taken to the street corners and the vendors are clamouring the pavements with their twinkling Christmas decor and accessories! The city's most iconic and eternally fave street Park Street is already lit, and we can't wait to rub shoulders with our fellow revelers during the super awesome and much-awaited Christmas carnival!
The Park Street Carnival (aka, the Kolkata Christmas Carnival) is coming back with the eighth edition of the festival and we are gearing up to hit the streets on the very first day itself! Starting from this Friday, the carnival will go on till Boxing Day (December 26). The Christmas trees at Allen Park is already out and the stage is getting readied for a host of live performances. Band performances to caroling - the itinerary is extensive and is keeping us super stoked.
Like every year the entire stretch of Park Street from the metro station to AJC Bose crossing will be lit up with huge light-studded gates. Buskers will take to the streets to playing amazing music to keep the festive cheer alive. Kolkata's fave singer Usha Uthup will take over the mic along with bands like Krosswindz and performers like Shane Hyrapiet. This aside, more than 36 food stalls will be up in the streets as well as in Allen Park to serve you hot piping treats like momos, hot cocoa and plenty baked goodies.
