Lamahatta

Developed as an eco-tourism hub in 2012, this tiny village near Darjeeling is surrounded by pine forests and offers breathtaking views of Mount Kanchenjunga. Lamahatta—the name of the village translates to a ‘monk’s hermitage’ in English. The hill station is mostly inhabited by tribes like Sherpas, Yalmos, Dukpas, Bhutias, and Tamangs with cattle rearing and farming being their main source of income or livelihood.
