Kolkata is a city full of surprises. For people who complain about the fading charm of Kolkata, Makhan Lal Das & Sons is one of the iconic spots of the city which still adds joy to the city.

What Makes It Awesome

Located inside Notun Bazar, this sweet shop is known for its sondesh - a Bengali sweet made out of milk and sugar. Since the last century, nothing much has change in the distinctive taste and price tag as they still continue to sell them at INR 2. Surprised? We can relate.

From jol-bhora to kacha-golla, this place does a variety which keeps on changing depending on the season. While winters are dominated by various gur-er sandesh, you will find fruity varieties during summers. Bored of traditional desserts? To keep up with the changing times, you can find some good chocolate misti, butterscotch-er jol bhora and more.

They also take bulk orders and now they have another new outlet in Ballygunge. You can also find them on food delivery apps.

What Could Be Better

Their new outlet in Ballygunge doesn't stock the iconic INR 2 sondesh.

Pro-Tip

The shop is located inside Notun Bazar of the Jorabagan and you have to navigate some narrow lanes. Feel free to ask for directions from the locals.
