What Makes It Awesome

If you are not a stranger to Marbella’s ‘a-pretty-cafe-straight-outta-Spain’ charm, you’d probably feel right at home in their newest outlet. On the other hand, if you were just casually walking down Elgin Road, and fairy lights on trees, Parisian-style windows, and an all-white exterior, made you stop dead in your tracks, welcome to the rest of us!

Marbella’s has opened a second outlet (the first one is in Hindustan Park) in the busy shop-till-you-drop hood of Elgin Road and they are ready to charm you to bits with their decor aesthetics and, ofcourse, the lip-smacking food they serve. I will get to the food in a bit but before that let me rave a little more about just how pretty this place is. Apart from the usual suspects, which are white brick walls, tiled flooring, lots of fairy lights, pastel hues, wooden chandeliers, glass windows, and wrought iron furniture, this outlet has cozy little nooks you can settle in and forget the world outside. It’s all in the little details like the white florals in a mason jar on every table or the neon lit writing on the wall that says ‘it wasn’t me’.

Coming to the food. As always, there are a lot of varied options to choose from their soul food menu. I started with Mini Caprese Bites. Works well as an appetizer. Followed by Taco Platter. Everything taco and salsa on a big plate with extra condiments. It’s a perfect dish for sharing with your squad. Want to take a deep-dive into the non-veg fare? Try out the Keema Tosadas and Beer Batter Prawns with Chilli Sauce. Don’t miss the Grilled Chicken with BBQ Sauce served with mashed potato and sauteed veggies on the side. If there is one dish that you must try it has to be the Wok Tossed Shrimp Arborio. A bangkok-style twist on your regular risotto. I tried and loved the Deconstructed Fresh Fruit Cake for dessert.

Pro-Tip

Fed up of working from home? Pack up your supplies and head to Marbella’s. They have just the set up for you. A window seating overlooking Elgin Road with John Mayer playing in the background and coffee on the table. Need I say more?
