It is 2021 and if you still aren’t leaning towards slow and sustainable fashion, well you’d better get started. It is not often that one spots hand painted clothes in a universe of machine-printed fashion. So you can imagine my joy on finding Megh Studio. This brand makes hand painted sarees, stoles and dupattas, that are stunning, sophisticated and sustainable.
Megh Studio rejoices in the sanctity of original strokes, and carefree flourishes of the brush. They use chiffon for the dupattas, and organza fabric for the sarees. The intricately painted floral outlines in bright colors stands out for its elegance and vibrancy. I love the colours they use! Pastels in pistachio, peach, powder pink, aqua blue, rose gold and more whisper for your attention. They enhance the dupattas and sarees with a clever but subtle use of sequins, thrown in here and there to make the flowers shimmer. End result: a beautiful piece of cloth that can add oodles of charisma to an all-white salwar kameez.
Their powder pink hued hibiscus organza saree drapes (and looks) like a dream. I could not take my eyes of the lilac lilies dupatta. Megh Studio also does exquisite applique work. Check out the red lotus applique done on a black dupatta. Perfect for afternoon soirees as well as festive occasions.
