Mohor Kunj, previously known as Citizen's Park by the inhabitants of Kolkata, is a scenic urban establishment located within the Maidan area of Kolkata. It was established during British Colonial rule as Citizen's Park and renamed in 2005 as a tribute to the iconic Rabindra Sangeet artist Kanika Bandopadhyay, the beloved 'Mohor Di' of Kolkata.
This park is deeply loved by both local inhabitants as well as tourists. Once you visit this place, you won’t feel like you're in India. Expect well-paved walkways and astonishing views of the serene Hooghly River. It's probably one of the most strategic locations too, as it's close to Eden Gardens, Victoria Memorial, the Indian Museum and the Howrah Bridge. So, if you wish to escape the hustle of city life, you know where to go.
Mohor Kunj also has occasional musical fountain concerts and water laser shows, making it a first-of-its-kind open space to provide such facilities. They've also created an open-air amphitheatre that hosts regular stand-up shows, cultural exhibitions and musical performances. Whether you're seeking a soothing evening stroll, a morning jog, a cultural evening or a quiet picnic with friends and family, it acts as a recreational space for everyone.
How To Reach: Mohor Kunja is very easily accessible by road. You can use taxis, auto-rickshaws, or private vehicles. From there, you can take a taxi or use the Kolkata Metro to reach the park.Best Time To Visit: During the months of January, February, March and April. It's especially great for early morning walks.
