Motherland is a cosy place located in an old house tucked away in the lanes near Charuchandra college on Lake Place Road — look out for the striking green door and windows {on the left just before the college}. The store stocks carefully chosen handicrafts and clothing sourced from Bengal and parts of South India. The cafe at the back of the store is the newest addition to the already thriving food scene in the area.

They serve fresh, hot and crunchy dal vadas and buttermilk. They also stock organic honey from The Last Forest {a brand based out of Kotagiri and Coonoor}. The honey, sourced from the Nilgiris, comes in a gorgeous, cyclindrical packaging with interesting art. A bottle of 500ml costs INR 580 only. They also stock handmade soaps {INR 150} and box sets of spices {INR 550} from the same brand.
